This introductory program will be run by Zoom video conferencing so that we can share care, information and ideas without any risk of the COVID-19 virus. More details are provided here or via email on how to join the meetings.
Health Access Fund
Do you need a series of treatments, but cannot pay the full fee? Ask your practitioner about accessing this fund so that you can have the treatments and the practitioner can receive the full payment.
A great way to learn more about the programs and enjoy the delight of contributing to the wellness of our community while working with a dedicated group of people. Will you make occasional phone calls, help with fundraising, join a Committee or stand for the Board?
E-mail email@example.com to discuss or learn about the Co-op by experiencing one of our events, a meeting, a treatment, or a program.
How to Support the Co-op As a Member
Become a Program or Project Leader.
Lead or support the planning, relationship building, fund raising, delivery, monitoring, reporting for any current or planned or new program. Contact any Board member or complete the Contact form.
Contribute time, skill or energy.
We do need the involvement of all our Member-Owners. It can be as little as an hour a month, as much as full time. Can you help with filing, archiving, media contact, fund raising, writing grant proposals, preparing refreshments for meetings, sector liaison or any of the other tasks of running an enterprise? Contact any Board member or complete the Contact form.
Support our initiatives through financial contributions.
Make a donation to Creating Community Wellness Society, a Registered Charity (CRA 83383 5457 RR0001) and VHC’s partner organization. An official donation tax receipt will be issued for donations addressed to Creating Community Wellness Society. Donations can also be mailed or left c/o Victoria Health Co-op, 380 Cook St, Victoria, BC V8V 3X7.
To better support our partner organization, please become a Member-at-Large by completing this Application Form and sending it to firstname.lastname@example.org – it’s as simple as that! Your support as a community member is greatly appreciated.
Participate in Co-operative Advocacy.
We will continue to advocate for our own Co-op and for the sector, and on wider issues such as housing and Proportional Representation. Inviting all co-ops in the region to our AGM is one aspect of our work to raise the profile of the co-op sector as a whole as is the annual proclamation, by the Mayor of Victoria, marking our 2019 AGM as Victoria Co-op Day.
We are working closely with the members of the BC Association of Community Health Centres (BCACHC) to enhance the non-physician aspects of wellness and health services. We are also exploring the possibilities of providing services without investment in brick and mortar. We continue to collaborate with other Health Co-ops in the Province, with particular awareness that the Social Determinants of Health such as social connections, clean water, good food, safe housing etc have a much greater impact on well-being than medical and surgical services. Although, when needed, these should be readily available, be of the highest quality, and be available for our entire minds and bodies, including eyes and teeth!
Nationally and Internationally
We work closely with other Health Co-operatives across and beyond Canada. (Co-op Resource page coming soon!)
